+Memory Eternal Mrs. Kunjumole Cheriyan

On May 18, 2011, Mrs. Kunjumole Cheriyan went to her eternal home, to rest in peace in the Lord.  Mrs. Cheriyan was born on November 30, 1956 to Mr. Kochukunju and Mrs. Saramma Varghese in Kayamkulam, Kerala.  She migrated to the US on November 8, 1994 along with her family.  She worked at Coney Island Hospital from 1996 until November 2009 when she was diagnosed with ALS.

Mrs. Cheriyan was married to Mr. Oommen Cheriyan on February 11, 1980.  She came from a family of three brothers and one sister.  She is survived by her husband of 31 years and her two daughters, Manju and Anju and their husbands, Jojy and Ajoy.  Mrs. Cheriyan was also blessed with two grandchildren, Christine and Catherine.

Mrs. Cheriyan was an active member of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Staten Island, NY.  She was active in the Marth Mariam Samajam (Women’s Forum) and volunteered at countless church events. She was instrumental in church fund-raising events.  She was also active in organizing prayer meetings and enjoyed catering to her friends and family.  She spent her leisure time cooking and tailoring.

Mrs. Cheriyan led a strong prayerful life and will be greatly missed by her husband, family, friends, and church.  She was dedicated, helpful, loving, courageous and a caring person.  May her memory be eternal.

“Jesus wept.” St. John 11:35  (shortest verse in the Holy Bible)  Lord Jesus wept for his friend Lazarus.  He was moved by the sadness of Lazarus’ sisters Martha & Mary.  When He drew near to the tomb, He commanded that they remove the stone, and He lifted up His eyes, and giving thanks to God the Father, He cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth.” And he that had been dead four days came forth immediately, bound hand and foot with the grave clothes, and Jesus said to those standing there, “Loose him, and let him go.”

Lord Jesus’ triumphant entry in the city of Jerusalem. Lord Jesus rode on a colt, the people placed palm leaves on the ground, some placed their garments on the ground. 

The people shouted:  “Hosanna!  “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
